French Naval Officer, Georges Hebert traveled the world and noticed that he found the fittest and most capable people in the most remote French colonies.
Of the indigenous people of Africa and the mountain tribes of Vietnam, he famously noted that "Their bodies were splendid, flexible, nimble, skillful, enduring, resistant, and yet they had no other tutor in Gymnastics but their lives in Nature."
He found strong, fit women in such places that assured him that gendered differences in strength were largely cultural.
