It's rubbish to you, but fine to them

Some Asians dry centipedes and sell. They must be buyers before the the drying take place. Culture has meaning for those who share in culture of eating a certing food, dressing in a certain way or what we choose to do.

Sports probability

Probability is a measure of the likelihood that an event will occur, expressed as a number between 0 and 1, where 0 indicates impossibility and 1 indicates certainty.  Probability  helps us to quantify uncertainty and make predictions in various fields, including mathematics, statistics, and science. In the last 24hrs approximately this time, Nigerians sat at sports watching centres and in their rooms, shaking their buttocks in ecstasy. Many were agog, happily to the high heavens as they watch the Super Eagle defeated the indomitable Lions of the Cameroun. No one had predicted outcome No one ever thought Nigeria could meet Cameroun in this tournament No prophet ever predicted the match Everything was placed on uncertain probability until they teams met, until they played, and until the Nigerian Super Eagle won. Sports probability was out of this contest!

The necessity of back-packs and Hand bags

People always move (including me). They move to:  Workplaces Market Schools Shoping malls Visit their relatives and friends. Their movements misnamed transportation prime alot of things to travel with: Cloths and shoes to wear Gifts to offer Soaps to bath with Body creams to rob And perfumes and to wear. How would carry all these necessary items at the time of travelling to choice destinations?  Back packs and hand bags become must-haves or necessity in such situations. If you can understand what people care about when they do what interests them, you might go a long way to offer a generous help profitably!

Not yourself alone, but others first!

Most times you busy your mind thinking about yourself, about what you would get, profit, earn and how you would be happily enjoying. Suspend that thought. First begin with how how you can be useful to other people in ways that are relevant. The caring for others would earn you more: 1. Money 2. Reputation 3. Joy,  happiness & fulfilment

Why not try some patience?

Help someone stand, he tries to bring you down. But when you fall, he falls. Keep someone behind your back, he would like to push you down to move to the front. When you fall, he falls as well. Beacareful about the way you treat someone that helps you stand, and someone at the front helping you to become.

See a beautiful advice from a man whose life journeyed from Zero to Hero

A father left a family when his only son was 2-year-old. The wife became a single mother, struggling to raise children, paying bills and give the child what other kids had. The child went through pains and hells on earth.  One day, luck and fortune smiles at him. He enrolled in school to pursue a degree after completing a high school. He later became a president of a great nation. Here is his advice: 1. There is no excuse for not trying. 2. Where you are right now doesn't have to determine where you'll end up. 3. No one writes your own destiny for you. You make your own Future  4. Whatever you resolved to do, be committed and work to accomplish it.

What to do when you don't know what to do

Making decision from available information in our memories is easy. It's  easy because of availability heuristic and schemas we use to make sense of the world. But when facing ambiguity, duress and urgency, tension climbs rapidly. For example, your ex girlfriend you love so much, had married but you still love her. She has keep a distance and moved on for quite a long time. One of your happy days she started sending you photos of her better self, looking more beautiful than you met her. What should you do? This is quite difficult to determine her intentions without more understanding of this context. However, she might be seeking attention, trying to stay connected as friends, or just sharing moments from her life.  It seems it may make you uncomfortable, to consider expressing your feelings, or setting boundaries for your own well-being. But it's hard. Secondly, armed robbers break into your house, with guns demanding money from you. One brandish the gun and put it right on yo

The relevance of instant lies in efficiency and convenience. Instant features can also improve the efficiency and effectiveness of

Beware of pick-pocketing

A friend of mind some times ago attended a religious crusade and someone at his back touched his shoulder and said "you will walk." My friend didn't bother because he knew he was not lame.  After the crusade, he touched his pocket and he coudn't find his wallet which contained his transport fare.  Guess what, he walked home from the crusade..😂 !

The power of society

A woman attempting to throw her baby into a river in Ogun state Nigeria. She was caught and arrested. But most people blame her for wickedness.  Indeed it might be an act of wickedness because there could still be some options she could have considered. However, we ought to look at the power of societal influence on individuals.  The government of the country created a though and hard economic environment through policies that only favour the rich and investors. These polices enable food inflation, now on rapid climb. Consumers are hopeless than ever. Incomes are not rising in response. How would people live without crime in such a difficult time?  If Emile Durkheim was living, he could have provided the best answer to this question.

See what reading can do to our minds

"This 72-year-old bookseller, Mohamed Aziz, located in Rabat, Morocco, spends 6 to 8 hours a day reading books. Having read over 5000 books in French, Arabic, and English, he remains the oldest bookseller in Rabat after more than 43 years in the same location.  When asked about leaving his books unattended outside, where they could potentially be stolen, he responded that those who can't read don't steal books, and those who can, aren't thieves."

Governor Hyacinth Alia donated vehicles to Lobi Star Football Club

Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has donated four new vehicles to Lobi Stars Football club of Makurdi, to ease the transportation challenge of the players and officials of the club.  The governor made the donation at the Government House Makurdi, Nigeria on Wednesday, when the players and officials of the team led by its Vice Chairman, Mr Dominic Iorfa, paid a courtesy call on the governor, to appreciate him for the support the team has enjoyed under his administration.  Governor Alia who appreciated the club for its wonderful performances in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) so far this season, said the excellent results the team has achieved, have put smiles on the faces of many Benue people.  The governor urged the team to maintain the momentum throughout the season, promising to ensure that the Aper Aku stadium is upgraded to an international standard before the end of the 2023/2024 Nigerian Professional League Season, to enable t

Versions of chauvinism

Chauvinism has bee an exaggerated, prejudiced loyalty or a belief in the superiority of one's own group, often accompanied by a disdain for other groups.  It manifests in various forms: 1. Gender Chauvinism : Belief in the superiority of one gender over the other. Asserting that men are inherently superior to women, leading to gender-based discrimination. This is more pronounced in the Taliban tradition.    2. National Chauvinism : Excessive patriotism or loyalty to one's own nation, often accompanied by a dismissive attitude towards other nations. Extreme patriotism that devalues other nations and cultures. National chauvinism was manifested in the tradition of color line in America until the civil movement.  3. Ethnic Chauvinism : The belief in the superiority of one ethnic group over others. It is also Racial Chauvinism: Believing in the superiority of one race over others, leading to racism and discrimination. The history of white surpremacy in America, mentioned above is a

The pain remains painful

But no one has the eye to see the colours of pain, the sufferings  and the mawling jaws of lack.  In 2015, the Nigerian economy was still robust. From this year (to two years afterwards), I had an opportunity to conduct market entry route research for one of the world's largest breweries across major cities in the country. Like a troubadour, I traversed the entire land. Rossy was the game. Trading was active. Consumption was okay. Demand and supply was equilibrium. Today, everything has changed. Poverty have devasted homes. Lack has robbed people out of lexicon. Some hours ago, I happened to drive through one of the geographies where the project (above) was launched. What I saw was a hell on earth: closed beverage outlets caused by lower consumer purchasing powers; and faces of people looking skeletal, gaunt and needy, as proteins vamoused from their family menu.  A certain man beside a canal bridge was empirically away from himslf. He stood there like a ghost soliloquizing (and mo

Every country cannot adopt Democracy

We live in the world of Europeans, Americans, Asians, Africans and more, where our minds and worldviews are different. But triumphalists believe that all political have and should converge in liberal democracy.  They failed to see  the power of authocracy in the rise of China, and influence of oligarchy in Russia. What about the Taliban chauvinism directed at women?

Confronting a problem

Confronting a problem involves facing it directly, acknowledging its existence, and actively seeking ways to address or resolve it.  It often requires assessing the situation, understanding the root causes, and taking decisive actions to overcome challenges. One approach is not enough. Some requires lying down facing up to confront it, as the mechanics do to fix unworking  automobiles.

B-option

When people mention "alternative" or "option B," they are typically referring to an alternative course of action or choice when faced with a decision.  It suggests considering a different approach or solution if the initial or preferred option is not feasible or effective. And it's a way of exploring different possibilities or strategies. Some years ago, some one was in a church, without money in his pocket. When the pastor announced "offering-time", his mind cuts. Cuts because lack creates pressure and tension. He looked  at the 16 cardinal points, no succor. No hope! Then he cut a button of his shirt and drop it in the church-offering bag and left. That was his B-option at the time.  If you can think-again, you would always be chanced into some B ways to accomplish what you  might have desired

Learning to hang a certificate on the wall

Most people (since the days of yore) enroll in schools to get certificates to get some jobs. Their joy never received fullness unless they grab a paying job. But of one of our students proved the opportunity. He enrolled at Ransford, got three certificates after months studies, and hand them on the office wall and the wall at home. The joy he received was to see his family business making head way in a hard economic time. Few days ago, he Whatsapp to thank me.

Outcome of interest

You've started something. A project. You have put in your best. But a certain factor turns out to prove you wrong.  Purse! That's not your fault. And it' isn't about you but about the work. You might need a better effort. And that's an anomaly: An outcome of interest to make you think again and get better in what you do. Practice creates outcome of interest: anomalies that helps us become better in professionalism.

Cognition at work

Upon waking each morning, you begin thinking—contemplating the tasks that you must complete that day. In what order should you run your errands? Should you go to the bank, the cleaners, or the grocery store first? Can you get these things done before you head to class or will they need to wait until school is done?  These thoughts are one example of cognition at work. Exceptionally complex, cognition is an essential feature of human consciousness, yet not all aspects of cognition are consciously experienced. Again, imagine all of your thoughts as if they were physical entities, swirling rapidly inside your mind. How is it possible that the brain is able to move from one thought to the next in an organized, orderly fashion?  The brain is endlessly perceiving, processing, planning, organizing, and remembering—it is always active.  Yet, you don’t notice most of your brain’s activity as you move throughout your daily routine. This is only one facet of the complex processes involved in cogn

From grace to disgrace

One actor marries a loving and caring wife that brought him fame. The actor's cheating attitude made him going about having affairs with other women. The last one he got was beautiful but brought him a public shame. The cheating, the unfaithfulness in his life moved him from grace to disgrace.

Emotion flair 1: Joy and Approval

Joy and Approval are emotional flairs in our everyday live. We need them. And we use them: Hooray!, Bravo!, Yippee!      1. Hooray! We won the championship!      2. Bravo! That was an outstanding performance.      3. Yippee! It's finally the weekend. We can adorn (or imbue) our days with joy, by choosing what to feel, instead of living in nervous breakdown (NBD)!

creativity by compounding

New ideas could emerge by compounding words in a name, a phrase or hyphenated word. A compound noun, for example,  is a noun that is formed by combining two or more words together. These words can be joined together, separated by a space, or connected with a hyphen. The resulting combination represents a single concept or entity. Examples of compound noun that could be used to form a new product are: Closed Compound Noun (No Space):  Example: Notebook In this case, "note" and "book" are combined into a single word to refer to a type of book for writing notes. Hyphenated Compound Noun:  Example: Well-being " Well" and "being" are connected with a hyphen to create a compound noun representing a state of health and happiness. Open Compound Noun (Space Between Words): Example: Coffee table  "Coffee" and "table" are separate words, forming a compound noun referring to a low table used for placing coffee or other items. A proper a

See strategic partnership that works

Strategic Partners (also called strategic allies) is a coming together of two or more companies to work together in joint ventures or other partnerships.   McDonald’s had several strategic partners. For example, it has one arrangement with Walmart whereby small McDonald’s restaurants are built in many Walmart stores.  The firm also has a long-term deal with Disney: McDonald’s promotes Disney movies in its stores, and Disney has allowed McDonald’s to open restaurants near its resorts. And many of the firm’s foreign stores are built in collaboration with local investors. Strategic partnerships help companies get the expertise they lack from other companies.  The partnerships also help spread risk and open new market opportunities. Indeed, most strategic partnerships are among international firms.  For example, Ford had strategic partnerships with Volkswagen (sharing a distribution and service center in South America) and Nissan (building minivans in the United States). Even bitter rivals

This is the art of Management

To what extent is Management an art? Even though managers may try to be scientific as often as possible, they frequently make decisions and solve problems on the basis of intuition, experience, instinct, and personal insights. Relying heavily on conceptual, communication, interpersonal, and time management skills, for example, a manager may have to decide among multiple courses of action that look equally attractive. And even “objective facts” may prove to be wrong.  When Starbucks was planning its first store in New York City, market research clearly showed that New Yorkers preferred drip coffee to more exotic espresso-style coffees.  After first installing more drip coffee makers and fewer espresso makers than in their other stores, managers had to backtrack when New Yorkers lined up clamoring for espresso. Starbucks introduced a standard menu and layout in all its stores, regardless of presumed market differences, and then makes necessary adjustments later.  For effectiveness, manag

Elements of communication

The word " Communication " emerged from latin Latin word " Communicatio "(noun), Communicatre (verb), meaning to share . This means sharing or exchange or information through speaking, writing, or using other medium. Communication has five major elements: 1. The speaker (sender) 2. The speech (message) 3. The audience (receiver) 4. The occasion (context) 5. The conveyor (the medium) 6 The effect (consequences) A hotel user ( speaker or sender) picked up his mobile phone (medium) called at 6pm to make an enquiry about "the available room to lodge". (Speech or Message). The hotel customer care staff (audience or receiver) responded and informed the customer about zero availability of a room at the time (the occasion, context or time). The customer dropped the call in a sad  mood (effect) as there was no hope for an alternative budget-size guest inn at the time
