Chauvinism has bee an exaggerated, prejudiced loyalty or a belief in the superiority of one's own group, often accompanied by a disdain for other groups.
It manifests in various forms:
1. Gender Chauvinism: Belief in the superiority of one gender over the other. Asserting that men are inherently superior to women, leading to gender-based discrimination. This is more pronounced in the Taliban tradition.
2. National Chauvinism: Excessive patriotism or loyalty to one's own nation, often accompanied by a dismissive attitude towards other nations. Extreme patriotism that devalues other nations and cultures. National chauvinism was manifested in the tradition of color line in America until the civil movement.
3. Ethnic Chauvinism: The belief in the superiority of one ethnic group over others. It is also Racial Chauvinism: Believing in the superiority of one race over others, leading to racism and discrimination. The history of white surpremacy in America, mentioned above is a great example.
4. Cultural Chauvinism: Assertion of the superiority of one's culture, often leading to a dismissive view of other cultures. Believing that one's own culture is superior to others, leading to ethnocentrism. All forms cultural ethnocentrism are good examples.
5. Religious Chauvinism: Belief in the superiority of one religious group, leading to intolerance or discrimination against others. Claiming the exclusive superiority of one religion and discriminating against followers of other faiths. Global jihadism activated by the radical islamists was a religious chauvinism
6. Species Chauvinism: Considering one species, usually humans, as superior to all others, disregarding the value of other forms of life. Disregarding the value of other species and asserting human or animal superiority over all forms of life. Some nomadic herders in the western Africa believe in the supremacy of cattles over human lives
7. Class Chauvinism: Belief in the superiority of one social or economic class over others, often leading to discrimination based on class. Discriminating against individuals based on social or economic class, considering one class as superior. Class chauvinism is manifested in most of the African countries. The Senate and Congress members see themselves as the distinguished.
8. Political Chauvinism: Excessive loyalty or bias towards one political ideology, accompanied by a disregard for alternative viewpoints. Blindly supporting one political ideology and dismissing or condemning opposing views. Political chauvinism is glorified by the Asian Oligarchs.
9. Technological Chauvinism: The belief in the inherent superiority of one technological platform, system, or approach over others. Insisting that one technological brand or approach is inherently superior, dismissing alternatives. Apple, Microsoft and Google have displayed this version of chauvinism for an extended time.
10. Professional Chauvinism: Excessive pride in one's own profession, leading to the dismissal or undervaluation of other professions. Undervaluing or disregarding the contributions of professionals from other fields, insisting on the superiority of one's own profession. Lawyers, Engineers and medical trained professionals believe that their skills are of more value than other professons.
