The power of society

A woman attempting to throw her baby into a river in Ogun state Nigeria. She was caught and arrested. But most people blame her for wickedness. 


Indeed it might be an act of wickedness because there could still be some options she could have considered. However, we ought to look at the power of societal influence on individuals. 

The government of the country created a though and hard economic environment through policies that only favour the rich and investors. These polices enable food inflation, now on rapid climb. Consumers are hopeless than ever. Incomes are not rising in response. How would people live without crime in such a difficult time? 

If Emile Durkheim was living, he could have provided the best answer to this question.
