Governor of the Bemue State Nigeria, Rev. Father Hyacinth Alia has made his people proud of his leadership

The emergence of Rev Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia as the governor of Benue State is a rare opportunity presented to the masses of the state to witness unprecedented dividends of good governance; since the commencement of the 4th Republic (1999 to date).

Benue, a state in Nigeria richly endowed with both human, and natural resources has over the years suffered outright neglect in all facets due to a lack of genuine will, and commitment to doing the right things on the part of her leaders.

IF YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS INVESTMENT, AND OTHERS YOU CAN VISIT BENUE STATE IN NIGERIA TO FOR FEASIBILITY STUDIES.

As a result of this, a significant number of the Benue masses have in the past lost confidence, and trust in successive administrations in the state.

However, the hope of the people was rekindled when the reverend gentleman decided to vie for the office of the governor of Benue State in the 2023 governorship election. A project which started like a joke gradually gained momentum wherein, the masses of the state formed a consensus, and Rev Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia became a rallying point amidst other contenders.

The massive support for his candidature culminated in a movement with both the young, and old throwing their weight behind him. As predicted by all and sundry even before the ballot was cast, the reverend gentleman won the election with a margin never experienced before in the history of governorship elections in Benue State.

Why was there a sudden awakening of hope, confidence, and trust in Rev Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia to do things differently as Benue helmsman? The answer was simple. First, his personality symbolizes integrity, accountability, and transparency. Secondly, his disposition at all times showed a genuine will, and commitment to utilizing every single kobo that belongs to the public for the good, and benefit of the public. All of these answers were validated, having traced his antecedents. For sure, the people of Benue State didn’t make a wrong choice of governor in the person of Rev Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia whose tenure is barely 7 months has further strengthened and sustained the hope, confidence, and trust of the masses in his firm resolve and genuine commitment to providing good governance to all Benue citizens.

The Benue People are now even more reassured because of his administration's numerous achievements within a short period in office. He is truly keeping to his campaign promises and does not look like one who will renege. He is conscious of the high expectations the Benue masses have on him, and he is not ready to fall short either. These are the reasons he is committed to embarking on projects that will bring succor to the entire Benue citizens.

Governor Alia is constructing township, and rural roads, he is consistent in the payment of workers' and retirees' entitlement, he has used part of the 2 billion naira palliative fund from the Federal Government (FG) for the purchase of buses for Benue links, and payment of WAEC and NECO examination registration fee for public school children. The renovation of a section of the State Assembly’s building is almost if not completed already. The revival of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) is speedily ongoing. Plans are also underway to begin rebuilding and renovating public primary schools across the 23 LGAs of the state.

On the 8th of December 2023, that was last week Friday, I listened to his 2024 proposed budget presentation to the State House of Assembly and was astonished by his people-centered projects as captured in the document.

Imagine the amount of funds budgeted for key priority areas of Health, Education, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Job Creation, and Poverty Alleviation, etc.

A quick perusal of the document revealed that Infrastructure came top with 35.77% of the entire budgetary amount of 225.73 billion. The Health sector is to gulp 15.01%, Education 15%, Agriculture 12.52%, and Security 4.79%. A reasonable amount of funds were also allocated to other sectors as well.

My belief, and that of other Benue masses is that this budget is Governor Alia’s attempt at laying a solid foundation for the sustainable growth of the state is assured because of his genuine will, and commitment to set the state on a trajectory of development.

Furthermore, his corrupt-free disposition, transparency, accountability, and prudence in the management of public funds for the public good is a sign that Benue is now in a safer hand.

Benue people named him a “Talk and do Governor”. The Benue masses trust him alot.

Sweet Spot

How do you create a digital strategy that involves customers in an energized social community?  How do you create an engaged, active “go-to” website?   Prophet's David Aaaker says, You must change the orientation of marketing from selling the offering, the brand, and firm to becoming an active partner with a shared interest program around a customer’s “sweet spot.” A sweet spot reflects customers’ “thinking and doing” time, beliefs and values, activities and passions, possessions or places they treasure. Ideally, it would be a part of, if not central to, their self-identity and lifestyle and reflect a higher-order value proposition, much beyond the benefits provided by the offering. To illustrate, Pampers went beyond diapers by creating the Pampers Village community that provides a “go to” place for all issues relating to babies and child care. Its five sections – pregnancy, newborn, baby, toddler, and preschooler – all have a menu of topics. Its online ...

Is Liberalism under attack?

I believe the answer may be yes. It's yes because two powerful states in Asia: China and Russia have consolidated authoritarian regime, that the end points may not be visible soon.  These two forces are working tirelessly to globalize oligarchy and authoritarianism. Their gospels has been noised abroad. Their influences influences have been displayed in some nations (with pseudo democracy) in the global south,  In Africa, liberal democracy have been badly weaken by the character of people in leadership: abuse of offices, stealing of public funds without questions and necessary punishments, plus rigging of presidential elections, leading to changing fortunes ànd quagmires. Beside, the curent hyper-inflation in Nigeria is blamed on the recent resurgence of Adams Smith and liberal economics doctrines (and partly by loyalty to Washington consensus: policies and insititios designed by the US government to globalize capitalism and it's associated cultural systems). The market is now...
