A Biblical Mystery with Modern Pain: Solomon vs. the Rest of Us

How Was Solomon Able to Persuade 700 Wives and Keep Them—Yet a Man Today Can’t Keep One?

“I don’t know what Solomon told 700 wives that you cannot tell one girl to stay with you.”
If this line hasn’t crossed your mind—or your group chat—are you even living in this generation?

King Solomon’s love life reads like a myth, a legend, or frankly… an emotional attack on modern men. Seven hundred wives. Three hundred concubines. Meanwhile, today a man can say “good morning” consistently for three weeks and still get hit with “You’re a nice person, but…”

So what did Solomon have that we don’t?

1. Wisdom Was His Main Rizz

The Bible says Solomon asked God for wisdom—and got it in abundance. This wasn’t just book knowledge; it was emotional intelligence, understanding human nature, timing, and communication.

Solomon probably knew:

  • What to say

  • When to say it

  • How to say it

  • And when to keep quiet

Today, many relationships fail not because of lack of love, but lack of wisdom. You can have good intentions and still talk yourself out of a relationship in one WhatsApp message.

2. He Was the Richest Man Alive (Let’s Be Honest 😅)

Let’s not spiritualize everything.

Solomon had:

  • Gold like sand

  • Palaces

  • Power

  • Influence

  • Security

In ancient times, marriage was deeply tied to security and alliances. Solomon didn’t need to promise “I’ll make it one day.” He had already made it.

Today, a man says:

“Let’s grow together”

And the response is:

“I’m not in the right space emotionally.”

3. Different Times, Different Rules

Solomon lived in a polygamous culture where multiple wives were normal—especially for kings. Society supported it. Families encouraged it. Politics required it.

Today?

  • Monogamy is the standard

  • Expectations are higher

  • Emotional availability is compulsory

  • One mistake = screenshots + breakup

You’re not competing with 700 other men; you’re competing with peace of mind.

4. Solomon Listened (Even When He Shouldn’t Have)

Ironically, the Bible later says Solomon’s wives turned his heart away from God. Meaning—he listened deeply to them.

Modern relationships collapse because:

  • One person talks

  • The other person replies, not listens

  • Or worse—leaves messages on read

Solomon probably mastered the art of making people feel heard.

5. The Painful Truth

Solomon could keep 700 wives, but he couldn’t keep his heart fully guarded.
Many modern men can’t keep one woman, but they still have peace, purpose, and potential.

So maybe the real question isn’t:

“Why could Solomon keep 700 wives?”

But:

“What does it truly mean to keep someone?”

Because staying isn’t just about persuasion—it’s about connection, timing, growth, and grace.

Final Thought

If Solomon were alive today, he might struggle too—because modern love is complex, emotional, and demanding in ways ancient kings never faced.

So if you can’t keep one woman yet, don’t beat yourself up.
You’re not Solomon.
You’re just human… in a generation where love is hard, hearts are guarded, and everyone is tired.

But hey—wisdom still helps.

The Seventh Generation of Computers

After the sixth generation of computers, which focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and nanotechnology, the next generation will likely explore seventh-generation computers or beyond. These might include: 1. Quantum Computing at Scale Fully functional and accessible quantum computers capable of solving complex problems exponentially faster than current computers. 2 . Bio-Computing Computers that integrate biological components, such as DNA-based processors or neural tissue, mimicking human brain functionality. 3. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Computers that exhibit human-like cognitive abilities, understanding, learning, and reasoning in a general, adaptable way. 4. Neural Interfaces Direct brain-to-computer communication, allowing seamless interaction with technology using thoughts alone. 5. Molecular and Optical Computing Advanced technologies using light (photons) or molecules for faster, energy-efficient processing. 6. Self-Evolving Systems Machines t...

Subcategory Competition could help firms deliver high sales; think Chobani!

In the future, branding and business in general is going to involve more subcategory creation and competition and less “my brand is better than your brand” competition. This is because, with rare exemptions, that is the only way to achieve real profitable growth. In category after category, real growth results not from market share increases, but from brands that have created a set of “must haves” that define a new subcategory and then manage that subcategory by becoming its exemplar. These brands continue to innovate and create a moving target. By managing the perceptions and attitudes toward the subcategory, the subcategory wins. I’ve previously discussed in my blog and my book, Brand Relevance a host of examples of brands that have created subcategories and won a subcategory battle. The Chrysler minivan, Asahi Super Dry, Enterprise-Rent-a-Car, Muji (the no- brand retailer), Patagonia, Zipcar, Tesla, Red Bull, IKEA, Gillette razors in India, the list goes on a...
